Trusseconomics and consequences of lack of trust

Trust thought for today - In the light of Trussenomics and the bizarrely obtuse views of the new Home Secretary I thought I would repost my recent article on the implications of lack of trust in government.

Very interesting research from the Inter-American Development Bank identified the implications of distrust in government and politicians for whole countries. It concluded “Trust is the most pressing and yet least discussed problem" the countries in the study faced and "the effects of distrust are perhaps the most critical factor in their poor economic and social performance".

I got on in this next article to look at what makes the UK different to Latin America - high inter-personal trust and how that might mitigate the negative effects. But I am getting worried that this is eroding too in the UK as politics and ideology pits us against each other.
